For those who don’t say they drink or like whiskey, this citrus-mint combination will change your mind. This citrusy drink, who many say is a take off the famous Mint Julep, was introduced in the 19th century and concocted by legendary bartender Dale DeGroff at the Rainbow Room in New York. As long as you have a muddler handy, anyone can make this drink and make it enjoyable!
- 2 oz Bourbon Whiskey
- 1 oz Simple Syrup
- 1/4 of a Lemon (cut into small pieces)
- 3-4 Sprigs of Spearmint
- Garnish: Lemon Wedge and Mint Sprig
In a mixing glass or cocktail shaker, add the mint and lemon pieces and then muddle thoroughly to releases the juices. Add in the simple syrup, whiskey, and some ice. Shake vigorously and strain into an old fashioned glass filled with crush ice. Garnish with a lemon wedge and mint sprig.
