Whiskey Smash

Whiskey Smash

Quick Facts

Cocktail History

Whiskey Smash is a cocktail with a long and unique history. Known for its invigorating effect, Whiskey Smash has been around since the mid-19th century, first having its appearance in American literature by novelist F. Scott Fitzgerald. As its name implies, Whiskey Smash centers around whiskey-based spirits, such as bourbon and rye, combined with zesty ingredients like mint and lemon juice to create an aromatic and flavorful result. Perhaps the Whiskey Smash’s most unexpected aspect is that it is traditionally served over crushed ice – something usually confined to drinks that don’t involve whisky! This creates quite a tingly sensation with each sip of this drink. So if you’re feeling daring, try yourself a Whiskey Smash: you won’t regret it!
