Vieux Carré

Cocktail History

Vieux Carré is an iconic French-inspired cocktail that was first served over 80 years ago in the legendary Carousel Bar at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in New Orleans. This cocktail, a deceptively complex mix of rye whiskey, cognac, sweet vermouth, and Benedictine, has developed a following of die-hard fans that can’t get enough of this unique flavor. Though its ingredients may not sound exciting on paper, Vieux Carré offers a joyful harmony of sweet and spice accents that burst on your tastebuds with every sip. It’s no wonder Vieux Carré is still enjoyed today.
