Mint Zombie

Mint Zombie

Quick Facts

Cocktail History

The Mint Zombie isn’t your ordinary Rum cocktail. It first appeared in late 1934, invented by Donn Beach at his Hollywood Don the Beachcomber restaurant. The story goes that Donn Beach originally concocted the Zombie to help a hung-over customer get through a business meeting. The customer returned several days later to complain that he had been turned into a zombie for his entire trip. The way we see it, the name can be interpreted in two ways, one in which the drink will have you feeling like a zombie after a night with this cocktail or, two, in a way in which it acts like a zombie, chomping your liver out. All kidding aside, the Mint Zombie is tropical in flavor, which may seem smooth to drink but keep in mind there are FOUR types of Rum liquor in this drink, so the potency is high.
