Quick Facts

Cocktail History

The Screwdriver cocktail is a classic drink with a really storied past. Its earliest origins date all the way back to 1920s Russia, where it was mixed simply as vodka and orange juice for those with limited access to mixers. Before long, Screwdriver spread worldwide, and by the 1950s was the standard drink of American astronauts aboard long space missions – it helped them to stay focused and awake! Today Screwdriver remains popular because of its simplicity, deliciousness, and affordability— after all, you only need two ingredients to make: vodka and orange juice! So why not try stirring up a Screwdriver next time you’re looking for something refreshing?
