Quick Facts

Cocktail History

The White Russian cocktail has a surprisingly lengthy history and is believed to be the result of a blending between Eastern, Western, and Russian cultures. Popularly made with vodka, Kahlúa, and heavy cream, this decadent concoction was first mentioned in literature in a 1943 story where it (and its inventor) were given no name. It gradually grew in popularity after the release of the iconic 1976 movie “The Big Lebowski”, which propelled it suddenly into mainstream consciousness. Today, variations abound with different ingredients from rums to tea; White Russians feel like a timeless classic that also always manages to surprise us!
