Since its inception in the 1880s, the Tuxedo Cocktail has had many variations. The earliest siting in publication comes from Harry Johnson’s Bartender Manual (1900). The cocktail is named after the Tuxedo Club in Orange County, New York where it was first created and is related to the classic Martini.
- 1 1/2 oz Gin
- 1 1/2 oz Dry Vermouth
- 1 Dash Maraschino Liqueur
- 1 Dash Absinthe
- 2 Dash Orange Bitters
- 2 Dash Aromatic Bitters
- Garnish: Maraschino Cheery & Lemon Zest Twist
Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass with ice and stir. Strain into a coupe or cocktail glass. Garnish with a maraschino cherry and lemon zest twist.
