Cocktail History
The difference between the Salty Dog and the Greyhound cocktail lies in the salted rim of the highball glass. The Salty Dog cocktail consists of gin (or vodka) and grapefruit juice. It was famously a favorite drink of Artie, the producer played by Rip Torn on the sitcom The Larry Sanders Show, and serves as a perfect drink on a warm summer day.
Ingredients
- 1-2 oz Gin
- 4-5 oz Grapefruit Juice
- Salt
Cocktail Preparation
Rim a highball glass with salt. Shake the gin and grapefruit juice, pour over ice in a highball glass. Garnish with a grapefruit slice.
