Poet's Dream

Quick Facts

Cocktail History

The Poet’s Dream was originally featured in the Old Waldorf Astoria Bar Book in 1935, as an equal parts gin cocktail without the addition of bitters. It was then adapted to a format that more closely resembles a classic martini recipe and featured in the Cafe Royal Cocktail Book in 1937.

  • 1 oz Gin
  • 2 oz Dry Vermouth
  • 1/2 oz Benedictine Liqueur
  • 2 Dashes of Orange Bitters
  • Garnish: Lemon Peel

Cocktail Preparation

Combine the ingredients into your mixing glass and stir with ice for 20-30 seconds. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a twist of lemon and enjoy!
