Lemon Drop

Lemon Drop

Quick Facts

Cocktail History

Back in the 70s, Vietnam Vet and saloon owner, Norman Jay Hobday invented the lemon drop cocktail in San Francisco. Its boozy-tart-sweet taste became a menu favorite across bars all over the world. The key to the recipe is having an equal balance of sour and sweet and, of course, garnishing the rim with sugar -distinguishing it from, what people think of it as, a martini. This lemon drop cocktail is not to be confused with a popular shot of the same name (be sure to specify when you’re ordering at a bar).

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Vodka
  • 1/2 oz Triple Sec
  • 1 oz Simple Syrup
  • 1 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
  • Garnish: Sugar Rim and Lemon Wedge

Cocktail Preparation

Gather all the ingredients and pour into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake for 20-30 seconds or until chilled. Take a martini glass and dip rim into sugar. Strain the shaker into your martini glasses and garnish with lemon slices.
