Japanese Cocktail

Japanese Cocktail

Quick Facts

Cocktail History

The Japanese Cocktail is similar to an Old Fashioned but with a rich and nutty twist. This is another Jerry Thomas original that appeared in the 1862 version of How to Mix Drinks. Oddly enough, the recipe calls for no Japanese ingredients. Jerry Thomas was frequently visited by a member of Japan’s first diplomatic mission to America. The diplomat, known to be out and about the town at night, spending time in Thomas’ bar was enough reason to create a cocktail in his honor. Enjoy a Japanese Cocktail tonight!
