Harvey Wallbanger
Cocktail History
The Harvey Wallbanger is a spin-off of the classic screwdriver cocktail with the addition of Italian liqueur Galliano. History of the cocktail dates back to the 50s when three-time world champion mixologist Donato “Duke” Antone apparently invented it naming it after a popular Manhattan Beach Surfer named Tom Harvey. Other historians state the facts don’t line up and that it was created by McKesson Imports Company in the late 1960s by a marketing director. Either way, the Harvey Wallbanger drink brought fame to Galliano liqueur making it the most imported liqueur in the 1970’s bringing in over 500,000 cases in a year.
