Harry Craddock’s 1930 The Savoy Cocktail Book puts an English spin on “The Earthquake Cocktail” with a recipe that specifies Gin, Whisky, and Absinthe. The cocktail’s name is derived from the notion that “if an earthquake was to happen while drinking this cocktail, then it doesn’t matter.”
- 3/4 oz Absinthe
- 1 oz Gin
- 1 oz Bourbon
Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake well for 10-15 seconds or until the outside of the shaker becomes frosted. Strain into an ice-filled brandy glass. Garnish with a lime slice and serve.
