Dulce de Tequila

In Spanish, “Dulce de Tequila” means tequila candy. Most people turn away at the thought of mixing liquors and, when so, it’s likely done in a shot (e.g Jackson 5, Three Wise Men), which is thought to be “quick and painless.” The dulce de tequila recipe creates a tasty dessert cocktail and the experience of candy in a glass. It’s sweet but not too sweet and pairs Tequila with Cognac. Inspiration for this cocktail comes from the Spruce Eats!

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz Cognac
  • 1 oz Cointreau (orange liqueur)
  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice
  • 1 tbsp Agave Nectar
  • Garnish: Lemon or Lime wedge

Gather the ingredients. Rim a cocktail glass with sugar: Wipe a lemon or lime wedge around the rim, then roll it in a shallow dish with granulated or superfine sugar. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour the tequila, cognac, orange liqueur, lime juice, and agave nectar. Shake well and strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lemon or lime wedge. Serve and enjoy!
