Dulce de Tequila

Dulce de Tequila

Quick Facts

Cocktail History

In Spanish, “Dulce de Tequila” means tequila candy. Most people turn away at the thought of mixing liquors and, when so, it’s likely done in a shot (e.g Jackson 5, Three Wise Men), which is thought to be “quick and painless.” The dulce de tequila recipe creates a tasty dessert cocktail and the experience of candy in a glass. It’s sweet but not too sweet and pairs Tequila with Cognac. Inspiration for this cocktail comes from the Spruce Eats! You’ll be pleasantly surprised with this recipe!

Ingredients

  • 2 oz Tequila
  • 1 oz Cognac
  • 1 oz Cointreau (orange liqueur)
  • 1/2 oz Lime Juice
  • 1 tbsp Agave Nectar
  • Garnish: Lemon or Lime wedge

Cocktail Preparation

Gather the ingredients. Rim a cocktail glass with sugar: Wipe a lemon or lime wedge around the rim, then roll it in a shallow dish with granulated or superfine sugar. In a cocktail shaker filled with ice, pour the tequila, cognac, orange liqueur, lime juice, and agave nectar. Shake well and strain into the prepared glass and garnish with a lemon or lime wedge. Serve and enjoy!
