Summer drinking just got easier with this batch-making cocktail! Especially if you’re living or travelling in the South. For one, sweet tea is a staple drink in every restaurant down south. Now add Bourbon, which is historically rooted in states such as Tennessee and Kentucky – you have the perfect pairing for a sweet summer cocktail. This particular recipe was developed by Stacie Stewart, restaurant manager of the Milkwood Restaurant in Louisville, KY. This recipe makes around 10 servings of the punch.
- 4 cups Cold water
- 6 Black Tea Bags
- 15 oz Bourbon
- 2 1/2 oz Simple Syrup
- 10 lemon wedges
- 10 fresh mint sprigs (optional)
First make the tea! Combine the water and tea bags in a large pitcher or jar. Cover and let the tea steep at room temperature for 8 to 12 hours. Remove the tea bags with a slotted spoon. Add the bourbon and simple syrup to the pitcher and stir to combine. For each drink, fill a tall Collins glass with ice and pour in 1/2 cup of the cocktail. Garnish with a wedge of lemon and a sprig of fresh mint if using.
