This cocktail (aka Blood Orange Cocktail), was created by Gian Saetti, a bartender at the Ritz-Carlton Kapalua’s Alaloa Lounge in Maui. The name comes from the use of a beautiful blood orange that has a deep red juice that brings to mind the color of blood – but sweeter. The Bourbon and Blood is inspired by the Manhattan and, even, the Boulevardier.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 oz Bourbon
- 1 oz Blood Orange Liqueur (Solerno)
- 1 oz Sweet Vermouth
- 1–2 dashes orange Bitters
- 6 small leaves tarragon
- Garnish: Orange Peel
PREPARATION
Inspiration comes from the Spruce Eats! Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake briskly 15 times. Double strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with the zest of a fresh orange swath before lightly placing it into the cocktail.
