Awaiting Grace

Awaiting Grace

Quick Facts

Cocktail History

This vodka drink comes to us from our friends at Make Me a Cocktail. The Awaiting Grace cocktail was invented by New Zealand’s top bartender Corban Hill. In the 2003 Suntory Cocktail Championships at the Holy Grail Bar in Christchurch, NZ, Corban invented the drink and named it after his unborn child. When Hill called his wife to let her know of the good news, he himself was given good news – that she was in labor. That my friend is what we call serendipitous.

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 oz Vodka
  • 1 oz Cointreau
  • 1 tsp Brown Sugar
  • Apple Juice
  • 5 Basil Leaves
  • 1 Lime Wedge

Cocktail Preparation

Muddle the basil with the sugar at the bottom of a highball glass. Add a lime wedge before pouring in the spirits and adding ice. Top up with the apple juice (preferably cloudy). Stir and serve.
